Pool service employee accused of fraud

A 54-year-old New Canaan resident reported fraudulent activity of a Clearwater Pool Service employee in Stamford June 27.

The complainant told police he wrote a direct check for $3,000 to the employee, with the understanding that pool restoration work would be done independently of Clearwater.

According to the report, the Clearwater employee told police the check was for previous work that was awaiting payment.

Police said no charges were made as the employee may still complete the work.
