Pawditions for pudgy pets

Global Pet Foods wants to help pets achieve a healthy weight this summer with the Healthy Pet Challenge.

On Saturday June 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Global Pet Foods will hold Pawditions at the Stamford location -- 579 Newfield Ave.

Pet owners interested in participating in the Healthy Pet Challenge are invited to bring their overweight pet down to the Stamford store to audition.

The Healthy Pet Challenge is a three-month weight loss program for overweight cats and dogs in Connecticut, which will run from June 2 through Aug. 31.

Pets selected to participate will receive a free nutrition evaluation, weight-loss and exercise program from a local vet, discounts on exercise toys and a small bag of pet food to get your furry friend started.

At Pawditions, pets will be weighed, have their photo taken and meet with an on-site local vet to determine a healthy goal weight.

The vet will also set appropriate weight loss goals for each month of the Healthy Pet Challenge. Pet parents will also meet with a Global Pet Foods pet nutrition expert to determine an appropriate diet.

Pets selected to participate in the Healthy Pet Challenge will be required to visit Global Pet Foods in Darien at 25 Old King Highway North or Stamford at 579 Newfield Ave. once a month in June, July and August for a monthly weigh-in, progress report and photo.

A winner will win a one year supply of pet food valued at $75). A second and third place prize will also be awarded. All pet owners who attend Pawditions June 2 from will receive a doggie gift bag.
