On the market: Plenty to offer

Out in the northeastern woods of New Canaan, surrounded by oak trees and woodsy property, a large, classically designed Colonial at 71 Hickok Road has all the trimmings.
Large sash windows face the front, which features a small Victorian-style balcony. The wide blue flagstones steps lead up to a good-looking face with several gables coming out on the third story.
It's a big entrance inside. Parquet flooring is intricate and immediately gives a sense of the handsome touches found inside.
To the left, the dining room also has a Victorian feel, with its wainscoting, crystal chandelier and coffered ceiling. To the right, the front living room enjoys the light of a lot of windows.
Straight back is another living room/family area with a stone fireplace and French doors leading into the backyard. On the left is a big, wooden deck with a handy ramp for accessibility. To the right is a large in-ground pool set in a slate patio. Down the hill one gets a view of the water, with more property extending out across the way.
There's an office off to the west of the family room. On the opposite side is a grand kitchen. It's convenient and connected to the family area, but wisely situated so it's simultaneously composed in its own space, with sliding doors leading outside.

A unique design of stairs lead simultaneously out of the kitchen and from the main hallway, meeting on a short, shared landing before ascending as one to the upper floor together. At the top of the open hall -- an expansive landing -- is a balcony on the opposite side, above the main entrance, which connects only from two of the bedrooms.
The bedrooms are elegant and spacious, aided by the size of the great sash windows, which start low near the ground and extend overhead.
The master suite, on the east side of the building, has a 12-foot-high ceiling, two walk-in closets and a stunning bathroom.
The third floor is a veritable party room -- one great space with a vaulted ceiling and a ton of floor space. There's a half bathroom up here as well, making it a place where one will enjoy a lot recreational time.
The utility room -- a bedroom or office -- has French doors on one side and has stairs on the other leading down to the kitchen.
The finished basement has a full gym, a storage room, and one large L-shaped utility room. Current use is for an office, but there are many options available for the new owner.
