The Lake Club welcomes the celebrated world No. 1 men's doubles team, Bob and Mike Bryan, London Olympic gold medalists and US Open champions, for a professional tennis exhibition, the Bryan Brothers Shootout, on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 5 p.m.
The brothers will take on Andreas Siljestrom (ATP ranking No. 82) from Sweden and Martin Emmrich (ATP ranking No. 69) from Germany for an exciting evening of high level men's tennis, equivalent to the likes of Wimbledon.
Both Siljestrom and Emmrich will also be competing at the US Open at the end of the summer. A limited number of tickets are now available for purchase to the general public at www.premiertennistravel.com. The two ticket options are courtside seating at $75 per person or $400 for high-top table seating for four people. Concessions and refreshments will be available during the event. For further information, please contact The Lake Club Pro Shop at 203-762-1663. The Lake Club is located on 165 Thayer Pond Road in Wilton.
Having just won gold at the London Olympics on Aug. 4, the Bryan brothers are the most notable doubles team in the history of the sport, having earned over 78 ATP tournament titles, including 11 Grand Slam titles: Five Australian Opens, one French Open, two Wimbledon titles and three US Opens. They are currently rated the No. 1 men's doubles team in the world by the Association of Tennis Professionals and have held this position since 2003. In addition to the recent win in London, the Bryan brothers also earned bronze medals at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Upon returning to the states, the team will perform at The Lake Club event and will then continue to showcase their talents at the US Open in September. For more information on the brothers, visit www.bryanbros.com.
The Bryan Brothers Shootout will benefit two children's charities: The National Tennis Foundation and Norwalk Grassroots Tennis, where a percentage of ticket sales will be donated to each charity. Both non-profit groups offer after-school tennis programs to under-privileged and inner city youth, and make the game of tennis more accessible to many children who otherwise would not have the opportunity to play. For more information on these charities, visit www.nationaltennisfoundation.org and www.norwalkgrassrootstennis.com.
In conjunction with The Lake Club, the Bryan Brothers Shootout is being sponsored by American Business, Morgan Stanley, Rangeley Capital, Moet-Hennessey, Franco's Liquor Store and anonymous Lake Club member donors. Sponsorship opportunities are still being accepted on several levels. If you would like to be part of this world class event, contact Berend van Toor, Lake Club Director of Tennis at 203-762-1663.
