NEW CANAAN — Police charged a 22-year-old Norwalk man after he allegedly drove while high on marijuana.
On May 4 at 12:18 a.m., a patrol officer pulled over a car on Park Street for having an expired registration sticker. The officer searched the car and found marijuana. When the officer spoke with the driver, James McQuillan, of Madison Street in Norwalk, there was also a strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer determined McQuillan had been smoking before driving and administered a field sobriety test, which he consequently failed, police said.
McQuillan was charged with driving under the influence and driving an unregistered car. He posted a $250 bond and was given a court date of May 15.
McQuillan’s passenger at the time of the arrest, John Langley, Jr., of Osborne Avenue, Norwalk, admitted to owning the marijuana and the 26-year-old was issued an infraction for less than a half ounce of marijuana.
