New Canaan resident Megan Joyce was honored Nov. 3 by the Chicago-Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Science during its annual Emmy Award celebration.

She received the academy's "Tom Skilling Scholarship Award" in recognition of her academic accomplishments, as well as those in the field of investigative journalism.

Joyce is a senior at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., where she is a dean's list student at the Medill School of Journalism and Weinberg School of Arts and Sciences.

During summer 2013, she was the investigative unit's research intern at WMAQ in Chicago, an NBC-owned television station. She had a similar position in summer 2012 at NBC's KNTV in the San Francisco/San Jose market.

She completed her journalism residency last spring as a news writer at WGN, the Tribune Company's television station in Chicago.

She is the daughter of New Canaan residents Nancy and Jim Joyce.
