New Canaan woman charged with DWI after car lands in ditch

Regina B. Perrigin-Olmstead, 52, of Oenoke Ridge Road was charged with driving while intoxicated May 4 at 10:27 p.m.

Police responded to an accident call on St. John Place. Upon arrival, they saw Perrigin-Olmstead, who was uninjured, standing outside of her car, which went off the road and into a ditch. After speaking to Perrigin-Olmstead, officers detected the odor of alcohol and noticed she was disoriented.

Police conducted field sobriety tests and arrested her. The vehicle, a Lexus SUV, sustained minor damage to the right front fender and bumper.

Perrigin-Olmstead was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and a failure to drive right. She posted a $250 bond and will appear in court May 16.
