New Canaan woman charged with DUI

NEW CANAAN — A New Canaan woman who police allegedly saw swerving in and out of her lane while driving on Old Stamford Road on Aug. 31 was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane.
According to the police report, an officer saw the vehicle of Judith Silvestri, of Lakeview Avenue, driving northbound in the southbound lane just before 9 p.m.
After stopping the vehicle, the officer spoke with Silvestri and detected the smell alcohol on her breath. The 71-year-old failed field sobriety tests, according to the report, and provided a blood alcohol content sample at the station the read .11, more than the legal limit of .08.
Silvestri posted a $250 bond and is due in court Sept. 12.
