Bruce Pauley will step down as the tree warden for New Canaan at the end of the month, NewCanaanite.com reports.

Pauley, a third generation resident of New Canaan who owned a tree service for decades, was hired as the tree warden for the town in 2010.Over the years he has dealt with brutal winters, Tropical Storm Irene and Hurricane Sandy.

Pauley’s great-grandfather moved into New Canaan around the 1850s where he bought a 600-acre property, which at the time was coined “Pauleyville,” and his great-uncle, Charlie, had been a tree warden and owner of a tree care business during the 1930s through ‘40s, according to NewCanaanite.com.

The site reports that Pauley is now moving fulltime into his longtime second home in Vermont with his wife and dog onto his 33-acre property.
