The Superintendent Search Committee announces the scheduling of several focus groups to enable various constituencies to raise issues, offer praise, note concerns and provide feedback that will help inform the work of the board and committee as it seeks to find a successor to Superintendent David Abbey.

An important early first step in this process is to identify the most important characteristics the committee will need and be looking for in our new superintendent. The group invites the various stakeholders and constituencies to attend the appropriate focus group to share their insights and help them define the desired qualities of the next leader.

The committee urges teachers, parents, administrators, students, non-certified employees and community members to respond to the online survey that will be available via a link on the New Canaan Public Schools web site from Jan. 9 through Jan. 13. Take a few minutes to increase their understanding of your views and the groups you represent. All this information will be compiled into a report that will help inform the work of the Search Committee and Board of Education in selecting our next superintendent.

The Committee wishes to express its deep appreciation to all those who help New Canaan make an excellent decision.
