New Canaan Public School students will attend school during spring break this year due to the snow days from this weekend's blizzard, according to Superintendent Mary Kolek.

"The last day is June 21 and now we're using April vacation, April 15 and 16, as school days," she said in an interview from her home in New Haven, where she's snowed in. "I know it's challenging for everyone. It's disruptive and disconcerting."

Many of the district's weather-related reserve school days were used during Hurricane Sandy. No more days can be added to the end of the calendar in June by state rules, so the district began drawing down April vacation.
