New Canaan schools closing early

New Canaan Public Schools will have an adjusted early dismissal today, Jan. 28, in anticipation of the storm that may include ice.

The dismissal times are:

New Canaan High School: 10:30 a.m.

Saxe Middle School grades 7 and 8: 10:30 a.m.

Saxe Middle School grades 5 and 6: 11:15 a.m.

South School: 11:15 a.m.

East and West schools: noon

A wintry precipitation -- a mix snow, sleet and rain -- is expected to move across southwestern Connecticut at midday and continue through nighttime, threatening hazardous traveling conditions later today. Precipitation is expected to become mostly icy rain by evening, with a low temperature dipping to about 30 degrees.
