The New Canaan school district announced the retirement of its Director of Finance and Operations, Joseph Meehan.
Meehan has been with the school district for 16 years, starting as a financial services coordinator, moving up to budget director, and finally as director of finances and operations.
"Mr. Meehan's dedication to the New Canaan Public Schools and his work ethic set a standard for all to admire and emulate," Superintendent Mary Kolek said in a press release. "He has been tireless in his service to the schools and community and has contributed significantly to the success of the district. Although his title as Director of Finance and Operations emphasizes the business nature of his broad responsibilities, what sets Mr. Meehan apart and makes him a true asset to the community is that he never fails to put students at the center of all of his decisions."
The release states that Meehan will "spend time traveling and enjoying life with his family."
His last day will be June 30.
