The New Canaan Branch of the American Association of University Women will host several student leaders from the Fairfield County Women's Center at Norwalk Community College on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 9:30 a.m. at Waveny House.
The students attended the National Conference of College Women Student Leaders in the spring at the University of Maryland College Park, and will discuss their experiences with AAUW members.
For more than 10 years, AAUW has sponsored the conference. More than 550 college and university students from around the world attended the sold-out event, which was co-sponsored by the Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and included skill-building workshops, networking and volunteer opportunities in addition to various speakers. The purpose of the conference is to encourage student leaders to explore how their talents, skills and vision can affect change on campus and within their communities.
This year's participants will provide insight into the ways in which NCCWSL advances AAUW's mission to advance
equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. Carol Blauvelt will moderate the discussion.
The public is invited to attend this event.
