Christine Dinella, Kate McCormack, Meredith Staud and Lacey Tallman, New Canaan Nature Center Preschool teachers, presented a math/science workshop at Norwalk Community College in March.

The event, sponsored by the Fairfield County Association for the Education of Young Children, attracted 25 participants. The attendees engaged in learning experiences designed to demonstrate strategies for guiding young children ages 3 to 5 to explore the fundamental concepts of math and science both in the classroom and out in the natural world.

Educators took away hands-on learning experiences that they will be able to implement in their teaching spaces. The presentation included photos, discussions and exploration of materials for instructing young children.

Marianne Kay, preschool director, said, "I was very proud, but not surprised that my amazing teachers were selected to present at this workshop. I feel that what we do at the Nature Center Preschool is worthy of sharing."
