Police: Marijuana, pipes found in man’s car
An officer on patrol saw a vehicle traveling on Old Stamford Road on June 6 whose operator, 22-year-old Joseph Langan, of Mahopac, N.Y., was holding a cellphone against his ear, police said.
The officer stopped the vehicle, and as he approached Langan, the officer smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer searched the vehicle and found marijuana, two pipes with marijuana residue and a grinder, police said.
Langan was issued an infraction for operating a vehicle while using a cellphone, possession of less than a half ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police: Norwalk man found with narcotics
New Canaan police observed a vehicle traveling on New Norwalk Road on May 22 with tinted windows that appeared to be illegal.
A police officer stopped the vehicle, which was being driven by Kwong Y. Liu, 31, of Norwalk. From inside the vehicle, the officer smelled marijuana, and Liu admitted to using the drug, police said.
A search of the vehicle yielded marijuana packaged for sale, oxycodone pills, liquid tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a scale and other drug paraphernalia, police said.
Liu was taken into custody and charged with possession of narcotics, a felony, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.
He was released on $500 bond.
Police: Driver stops to text, gets DUI
An officer on patrol June 10 observed a vehicle on East Avenue stopped in the eastbound lane straddling the yellow line, police said.
The officer stopped the vehicle and upon speaking with the operator, Nicholas Martschenko, 41, of Greenwich, the officer smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle, police said.
Martschenko told the officer that he was stopped in the roadway because he was texting. Martschenko failed a field sobriety test, police said, and was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive right and operation of a motor vehicle while using a cellphone.
Chemical analysis revealed Martschenko’s blood alcohol content was .137, police said. He was released on $260 bond and is due in court June 22.
Police: Drunken woman tries to pick up child from South School
New Canaan police were dispatched to South School on June 9 after a woman who appeared to be drunk was reportedly trying to pick up her child from school.
The woman, 43-year-old Melina Usher, of New Canaan, failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence, police said. Usher refused chemical analysis. She was released on a promise to appear in court June 20.
Police: Man charged in domestic dispute
New Canaan Police were dispatched to Millport Apartments on June 12 on a report of a possible dispute. Officers spoke with occupants of the home and charged Royce Maroch, 18, of New Canaan, with disorderly conduct and issued an infraction for possession of less than a half ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Maroch was taken into custody and released on $500 bond and was due in court on June 13.
