New Canaan police: Man found slumped over steering wheel, charged with DUI

NEW CANAAAN — Police said they arrested a 66-year-old man from Riverside, Conn. after he was found slumped over the steering wheel of his car in the middle of the afternoon.
On Feb. 2 around 1:25 p.m., police were dispatched near Ponus Ridge Road and Trinity Pass on a report of a car stopped in the road with a man slumped over the steering wheel. The officers spoke with the man, identified as Peter Burgess of Spezzano Drive. Police had the Riverside resident perform a field sobriety test, which he failed.
Burgess was taken into custody on charges of drunk driving and driving in the right-hand land. He posted a $250 bond and was released with a court date of Feb. 16. His blood alcohol content was not available.
