NEW CANAAN — A 44-year-old New Canaan woman was charged with driving under the influence after getting into a car accident while allegedly driving drunk with her child in the car.
Police responded to an accident Sept. 29 around 7:30 p.m. where Rebecca Ford, of Brookwood Lane, hit a car while turning right from Pine Street onto Grove Street. Though the crash yielded no injuries, officers smelled alcohol coming from Ford’s car and noticed she seemed intoxicated. Ford failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. Since Ford’s child was in the car during the accident, she was charged with risk of injury to a minor on top of her DUI charges.
Ford was released on a $2,500 bond. She will appear in court Oct. 13.
Police said they will release no further information about the child involved in the accident.
