WILTON — A New Canaan man is facing drunk-driving charges after he struck another vehicle while exiting the parking lot of a Wilton restaurant, police said.

Police said Brett Daniel, 47, of New Canaan, was pulling out of the Little Pub parking lot near the Norwalk-Wilton line around 10 p.m. Sept. 14 when he struck another vehicle that was traveling north on Danbury Road.

At the scene of the accident, police said a responding officer detected an odor of alcohol on Daniel’s breath. Daniel failed a field sobriety test and was taken into police custody.

Emergency services evaluated Daniel, who denied treatment.

Back at police headquarters, police said Daniel declined to submit a blood alcohol test.

Daniel was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and failure to grant right of way. He was released on a $260 bond ahead of a Sept. 25 court date.
