Catherine Avery Investment Management, LLC, of New Canaan, has received a 2013 Five Star Wealth Manager Award.
"After being in business for over six years," Avery said, "CAIM has grown into a viable entity and is starting to be recognized as a leader in the field,
Avery launched her company after a 25-year career managing mutual funds and separately managed accounts.
"Five Star's Wealth Manager Award is third party, peer recognition of CAIM's capabilities and success as an independent, owner-run investment firm."
Five Star Professional, founded in 2003, conducts market-specific research throughout the U.S. and Canada to identify service professionals who provide quality services to their clients.

In order to be selected, CAIM had to meet 10 objective eligibility and evaluation criteria associated with wealth managers who provide quality services to their clients. Less than 7 percent of the wealth managers in a market receive the award. As a winner, CAIM will be listed in a special advertising section of the December issue of Connecticut Magazine.
"My clients need a customized, hands-on approach to handling assets managed," Avery said. "They can only get that in a small firm like CAIM, that provides easy access to the portfolio manager."
She notes that with the current interest rate environment being so low, people are looking for advisers with the knowledge and expertise to help them make the most of their retirement dollars in the years ahead.
"This is definitely not money management for the masses," she said.
