Chris White, a New Canaan High School 2010 graduate, is currently serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Billings, Montana. He addressed the New Canaan congregation July 31 and reported to the missionary training center in Provo, Utah, on August 10. After a three-week stay, White arrived in Billings and traveled to his first assignment in Polson, Mont.

As a missionary, White teaches the Gospel and provides community service. He will share his strong conviction of the Gospel and his love of Jesus. Missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serve without pay for a period of two years. White joined the Church of Jesus Christ in March, 2007, and wants to serve because he desires to help change others' lives as he has seen the church change his own.

White played on the varsity football team at NCHS, was named to All-FCIAC honors and was part of New Canaan's four straight state championships. He also placed third in the state for wrestling. He went to Brigham Young University, Idaho, where he played rugby, before leaving on his mission.
