Volatile weather could be in store for southwestern Connecticut this afternoon and tonight as a new air mass moves into the region, sparking scattered showers and thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service, in a "Hazardous Weather Outlook," warns that some of the storms could be severe, with downpours, gusty winds and hail. Otherwise, skies today should be mostly cloudy and temperatures will rise to the mid-80s.
There remains a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms tonight, as the temperature dips to the upper-60s.
Tomorrow, showers and thunderstorms are again possible, mainly between noon and 3 p.m., police said. Most of the day should be partly sunny and the high temperature will be close to 90 degrees. Tomorrow will be mostly clear and temperatures in the low-60s.
Wednesday should be sunny with a high temperature in the low-80s. Nighttime skies will be partly cloudy with low temperatures in the mid-60s.
The outlook for Thursday, according to the weather service, is for possible showers, cloudy and temperatures in the low-80s.
