Light snow has been falling across southwestern Connecticut for several hours as of 5 a.m. this morning, and the National Weather Service say that could continue into afternoon.
Minor accumulations are expected, but the stage is set for two more days of occasional snow, sleet and rain, according to the NWS forecast.
The temperature, however, is expected to rise above the freezing mark for the first time today in several days. The day should be mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. The wind will be clocked at 10 mph.
Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 23.
Snow is likely again tomorrow before 3 p.m., then changing to rain, snow and sleet, the NWS says. The high temperature will be about 36 degrees with an east wind between 7 and 15 mph. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one-half inch is possible.
Rain, snow and sleet are expected tomorrow night, becoming all snow after 9 p.m. The temperature will fall to about 27 degrees. There also will be a blustery north wind between 20 and 22 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.
Accumulation of snow and sleet between 4 to 8 inches is possible.
The snow is expected to keep falling Thursday morning, easing after 7 a.m. The high temperature should be in the mid-30s.
Friday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 29.
