Storms with drenching rain are possible today, according to the National Weather Service, ushering in a very hot week.

In addition to warning about the heavy rain possible across southwestern Connecticut, the NWS says the daytime high temperature will rise to the mid-80s.

Chances of precipitation increase tonight, the NWS says, and again the rainfall could be heavy. The overnight temperature will dip to the upper-60s.

Tomorrow should be mostly sunny with the temperature rising to the low-90s. Skies will also be mostly clear tomorrow night and the low temperature will be in the low-70s.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny and even hotter, the NWS says, with a high temperature in the mid-90s. Overnight, the temperature will decline to the mid-70s.

The outlook for Wednesday, the weather service says, is a chance of showers and thunderstorms and temperatures rising to the low-90s.
