On this first day of a holiday-shortened work week, southwestern Connecticut will enjoy sunny skies and temperatures in the upper-70s.

The National Weather Service says there will be only a light breeze from the north at from 6 to 8 mph.

Overnight, there will be patchy fog and a low temperature around 61 degrees, the NWS says.

There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms tomorrow, primarily after 1 p.m. through early evening. Otherwise, the day should be mostly sunny, with a high near 84 degrees and a southwest wind between 6 and 11 mph.

On Thursday, skies will be sunny and the daytime high temperature will be near 76 degrees. There also will be breezy conditions, with a west wind between 14 and 20 mph. Nighttime skies will be clear and the temperature will dip to about 58 degrees.

Friday also should be sunny with a high near 75 degrees, the weather service predicts.
