Rain that began falling overnight across southwestern Connecticut is expected to continues falling periodically through this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Compounding the unpleasantness, the daytime high temperature is expected to rise only to about 42 degrees,

Precipitation should taper off by about 3 p.m., the NWS says, and there will be an east wind between 8 and 13 mph.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low temperature around 35 degrees, and a northeast wind between 3 and 8 mph.

Tomorrow, there could be more showers in the afternoon. Otherwise, the day will be mostly cloudy, with a high temperature in the low-50s. Showers are likely tomorrow night, and the temperature will fall to a low in the upper-30s.

On Monday, the sun returns and the high temperature will be in the upper-50s. Nighttime should be clear, with a low temperature about 40 degrees.

The outlook for Tuesday, the weather service predicts, is for mostly sunny skies and a high temperature in the upper-50s.
