Fog is blanketing southwestern Connecticut early this morning, and the National Weather Service warns it will be so thick in some areas that drivers need to take special care.

The foggy conditions are not expected to clear until mid-morning, but even then the forecast is not promising.

There is a chance of showers -- perhaps a thunderstorm -- through afternoon into the evening. Skies will be cloudy and the temperature will rise to a high of about 70 degrees.

Besides a continuing chance of showers, tonight will be mostly cloudy with the temperature falling to a low of about 54 degrees.

Tomorrow should be mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. There is a chance of showers tomorrow night with a low around 53 degrees.

Showers are possible again with the start of the work week Monday. It will be cloudy, with a high near 63 degrees,
