New Canaan boys tennis team wins Class L title, highlighted by all-Rams doubles finale

It was an all-New Canaan final at the Class L boys tennis doubles championships. New Canaan, which won its fourth state championship in a row and provided coach Dan Borgman with his 28th title in 41 years at the helm, captured the tournament in front of Fairfield Warde and Daniel Hand, which tied for second place.
In the doubles finale, New Canaan's top tandem of Nick Laub and Patrick Newton defeated teammates Devin McVeigh and Jacob Reiss 6-1, 6-2 to capture the title. Both duos had to win five matches just to make it to the finals.
New Canaan's third doubles tandem of Luke McDermott and Andrew Penchuck went 2-1 overall before falling in the third round of the tournament.

At singles, New Canaan's Tommy Worcester and William Burger each won a trio of matches before both were defeated in the tournament's quarterfinals. Timothy Casavant also won his first round match before being defeated in the second round, and Spencer Lamdin competed in the first round but was defeated by the tournament's No. 2 seed.
