The U14 New Canaan Girls Black Team suffered its second straight loss, falling 2-0 at home against Wilton.
New Canaan had a difficult time penetrating Wilton's midfield and defense throughout the first half. New Canaan was about even in possession in the second half but was unable to find the net.
Wilton scored on the counterattack six minutes in and again at the 29-minute mark when New Canaan was unable to clear a corner kick.
New Canaan came close to scoring early in the second half, but Maeve Selvaggi's kick went wide to the left of the net. The defensive play of Eliza Farley and Abby and Nicole Weiss, as well as goalkeeping of Hailey Towbin and Skylar Severance kept the score close. Braeden Dial put in a notable effort in the midfield.
New Canaan is away against Ridgefield next week.
