The U14 New Canaan girls red soccer team closed the spring season with a 5-3 road win at Weston and boosted its record to 5-3-0 in the process.

Emily Walshin and Lili Ferguson led the attack. Walshin opened the scoring by finishing on a skillfully placed lob pass from Ferguson. Weston responded soon after to even the score.

New Canaan recaptured the lead when Walshin's free kick hit the crossbar and ricocheted down to Erin Williams, who tapped it in. Weston tied it when New Canaan failed to clear a corner kick.

Ferguson then put New Canaan back in front 3-2 heading into the break, converting on an ill-placed Weston back pass. Ferguson then made it 4-2 with a well-timed strike from the top of the box from a short pass from Walshin. Weston made it close with a nice finish after a long run down the offensive half of the field.

New Canaan secured the win when Walshin made a run on the left side of the field to the end line, crossing to Jane Isherwood, who made a nice run to the center of the goal for an easy tap in.
