New Canaan U12 girls soccer team goes 4-0 to capture Bethel Columbus Day Tournament

The New Canaan U12 girls soccer team led by coach Jay Eccleston turned in an undefeated performance to win the Annual Columbus Day Tournament in Bethel this weekend.

Teams included Westport, Greenwich, Trumbull, Bethel, Weston, and Monroe. New Canaan came out on top against a very competitive bracket, playing a total of four games, winning 5-0, 1-0, 2-0 and 3-1.

While there were many impressive performances by the girls, goals were scored by Olivia Cosco (3), Sarah Spadaccini (2), Lauren Bisceglia (2), India Otero (1), Ryann Mushkin (1), Libby Tedford (1) and Jessica Eccleston (1).

New Canaan had several strong performances in goal including Tedford, Kendall Patten, Katelyn Sparks and Bridget Salmini.

New Canaan put on a clinic with their passing ability in each of its games. Several players had multiple assists, including Lauren Sampson, Patten, Claire Ross and Jessica Dolby.

Joelle Anselmo, Katherine Marcus and Lucy Coutts and Whitney Bryant also turned in impressive defensive performances.
