New Canaan Red fourth grade football team comes up short against Wilton White

In a battle of undefeated teams, the New Canaan Red fourth grade football team came up short in a tight 20-14 loss to Wilton White.
On the second play from scrimmage, New Canaan's Robert Evans ran for a 60-yard touchdown, his 14th of the season. The point after was successfully kicked by Ryan McAleer to make the score 8-0. Great blocks were made by Thomas Marshall, Charlie Mullaney, Alec Kazlauskis, Steven Hoge, Nick Gilio and Ryan McAleer.
Wilton took the ball on its first drive from its own 20-yard line. A 15-play offensive drive was stopped on the New Canaan six-inch line for no score. Outstanding defensive efforts were made by Tyler Saitta, Marshall, Greg Korsun, Mullaney, Nicky Hoge, Gilio, Andrew Smith, Evans and McAleer to prevent Wilton from scoring.
The next New Canaan offensive drive ended with an incomplete pass and the ball was turned back over to Wilton. On its second drive, Wilton scored on a short run. The two-point attempt was stopped cold by Marshall, Korsun, Colby Gardiner, Dylan McDonald, Xander Arnone, and Saitta, and the half ended with New Canaan leading 8-6.

Wilton scored on its first possession of the second half to take a 12-8 lead.
New Canaan struck back on its first play of the third quarter with 45-yard touchdown run by McAleer to give New Canaan a 14-12 lead after a failed point after attempt.
Wilton scored on its next possession and converting a two-point play to take a 20-14 lead.
New Canaan was unable to score on its next possession, falling one yard short of a first down at the Wilton 20-yard line.
