Exhibition, arts fest
The exhibit showcases the current works of the distinguished artist/teachers of the Silvermine School of Art. The exhibition represents every style and medium, including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry and silversmithing. There will be an arts fest Saturday, Sept. 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. Free Outdoor Events. This will be the first ever Silvermine Arts Fest and the inauguration of the Sculpture Walk. Enjoy a fun-filled day with flash concerts by New York City based Asphalt Orchestra. Also featured will be Liz Joyce presenting her Punch and Judy, plus a pottery sale and hands-on art activities for all ages with the Silvermine School of Art Faculty.

Auditions scheduled at Darien Arts Center
Time: present; location: an English drawing room; characters: six men and three women, ages 20 to 60.
Audition dates are Monday, Sept. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Darien Arts Center Visual Arts Studio and Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Darien Arts Center Visual Arts Studio. The Darien Arts Center is located at 2 Renshaw Road, Darien, behind the town hall. The Visual Arts Studio is across from the main arts center doors.

E.M. Ashe works on display
The New Canaan Historical Society has a new exhibit in The Silvermine Room featuring the works of E.M. Ashe. The Silvermine Room is dedicated to exhibiting the art and history of the early members of the Silvermine Artist's Colony.
All of the works in the Ashe exhibit are on loan from private collections; the majority are from a grandson of the artist. The exhibit will remain on view until Sept. 3.
The Historical Society hours are Tuesday to Friday 9:30 to 4:30 and Saturday 9:30 to 12:30.
Concert Series in its 64th Year
Wilton Candlelight Concerts' 64th season of chamber music will open on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 4 p.m. with a recital of Mozart and Schumann, performed by Richard Goode. This concert is the first of a four concert series sponsored by Candlelight Concerts, an independent, non-profit organization based in Wilton.
The Wilton Congregational Church is just north of Wilton center on Route 33. Season tickets for the Candlelight series start at $90, ($75 for seniors), and tickets to individual performances are $25. Candlelight Concerts happily accepts tax deductible contributions from individuals and businesses.
