Altoona took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first thanks to a timely single by Riley Gardiner, which drove home Matthew Boland.

Bakersfield responded with two runs in the bottom of the second. Baxter John and Chase Boshnack reached to start the inning and scored on base knocks by Alex Ainsworth and Mazabras.

Altoona jumped back on top in third. After Peter Bennington and Jack Reed stroked base hits, Ryan Anderson and Graham each ripped run-scoring singles to take a 3-2 lead. Altoona grabbed a 4-2 lead in the top of the fifth when Gardiner lined an RBI double, plating Graham.

But Bakersfield would rally. Werneburg, John and Boshnack would load the bases for Dylan Murray, who delivered a key two-run single, followed by another run-scoring knock by Luchette for a 5-4 lead.

Curtis Tenney's outstanding defense gave Altoona momentum going into the last inning, when Anderson stroked a key single, followed by Cascione, who pounded an RBI double to tie things up, 5-5. Schneider's diving stop up the middle preserved the tie for Bakersfield.
