At 12:36 Friday morning, New Canaan Emergency Services were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 747 Old Stamford Road with initial reports of someone trapped inside.

Police officers were first on the scene and found the home filled with smoke. A resident told the officers that his sister may still be inside. They attempted to enter the building to find her, but were "driven back" by the heavy smoke, according to a release from Fire Marshal Fred Baker.

Fire fighters arrived shortly after and extinguished the fire, which was located in an in-law apartment on the lower level of the home.
