New Canaan Country School teaches students about community service

New Canaan Country School recently accepted the delivery of 18 books which will be put to use as part of its ongoing work to educate children on the value of community service. Cynthia Gorey, executive director of the New Canaan Community Foundationcame to deliver books on the subject of philanthropy to the school's library. NCCF received a grant from the Newman's Own Foundation and its Young Philanthropists Fund, administered by high-school aged participants, and purchased age-appropriate, philanthropically-themed books to donate to local schools and libraries.
"...The school works in partnership with families to teach personal, social, and environmental responsibility and to create a community that honors diversity and our common humanity," head of school Tim Bazemore said, referring to the school's mission statement. "New Canaan Country School inspires students to be lifelong learners with the courage and confidence to make a positive contribution to the world."
