West Elementary School Principal Jill Correnty will become the district's interim assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction effective Oct. 1, according to a letter sent to families from East Elementary School Principal Bunny Potts.
Correnty will fill the vacancy left by former Assistant Superintendent Mary Elizabeth Murray-Wilson, who left last month citing a contract dispute and an "ongoing lack of support" for her work, according to her resignation letter.
Kris Woleck, East School assistant principal, will move to West School until June, while Valerie Cooper will serve as acting assistant principal at East. Cooper, who recently received her degree in educational leadership, has been a special education teacher at East for 10 years, the later stated. Potts said East is currently interviewing teachers to fill the special education vacancy.
