NCHS student arrested for assault

A 17-year-old male New Canaan High School student was arrested Jan. 27 at 4 p.m. for assaulting a fellow student on Dec. 5, 2011.

The victim, another 17-year-old male New Canaan High School student, was allegedly attacked in the high school parking lot at 2:30 p.m. after the assailant started a verbal argument with him. Police said the victim was hit four or five times when the assailant stopped and left the scene before adults from the school came out. The victim only suffered minor injuries with a scratch on his neck and a bump on his head, police said.

The assailant was later charged with third-degree assault and second-degree assault by a youth offender.

He posted a $1,000 bond and will appear in court Feb. 3.
