NCHS Theatre wins awards for "Thoroughly Modern Millie"

New Canaan High School Theatre won the top prize for best musical at the Halo Awards, which took place May 27 at the Palace Theatre in Waterbury.

The group won for its production of "Thoroughly Modern Millie."

Other awards were for:

Best dancing, "Thoroughly Modern Millie"

Best performance by a couple or duo in a musical, Griffin Hall and Shaan Appel for "Thoroughly Modern Millie"

Best sound design, Michael DiPanni for "Stepping Out" and "Thoroughly Modern Millie"

Best original program cover design, Lauren Mellinger for "Tom Sawyer," "Stepping Out" and "Thoroughly Modern Millie"

Additionally, Anna Oxman won the DMo New York City Dance Scholarship.

Overall, NCHS Theatre had 25 nominations.

At the Connecticut High School Musical Awards June 2, NCHS Theatre, which had 14 nominations, won for outstanding orchestra for "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and makeup for "Thoroughly Modern Millie" by Linda Hurst and Shannon-Courtney Denihan.
