Catherine Palmer, 42, 151 Butler Lane, New Canaan, was arrested June 13 on two counts of risk of injury to a minor after her 7-year-old son fell from his scooter half a mile from home, police said.

On June 10, police responded to Putnam Road near Wide Oak Shade Road on a report of a child lying injured on the side of the road, police said. The 7-year-old, who was not wearing a helmet and was with his 9-year-old brother, had fallen off his scooter and fractured his skull and received other injuries, police said. The 7-year-old has since been released from the hospital, police said.

Following an investigation, police determined that they had probable cause to arrest Palmer for risk of injury to a minor, the report stated. She was at home at the time of the boy's accident, police said.

Palmer told police her sons said they were going to play basketball at a friend's house. Their father was not home at the time of the incident, police said.

Palmer posted $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court June 23.
