The First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan hosted a brunch on June 9 at the Roger Sherman Inn to honor the career of the Rev. Paul Gilmore, who was marking the 30th anniversary of his ordination.

As a surprise, several members of Gilmore's family flew in for the occasion.

Dede Bartlett, clerk of session, said, "It was wonderful to have a chance to hear stories from Paul's family of his life before New Canaan, and it was great for them to see the regard in which we hold him and the real affection in the room for him."

John Lanaway, chairman of the Congregational Life Committee, added, "In the dunk tank on Memorial Day, on the roasting spit on Sunday, Paul must be wondering what's next."

Plans are already underway for the celebration of his 40th anniversary.
