Jonathan B. Mills, of New Canaan, has been elected chairman and managing director of Cummings & Lockwood for a fifth term.

Mills is a member of the real estate and commercial practice groups at Cummings & Lockwood. His legal practice includes commercial real estate transactions, such as commercial leasing, sales, acquisitions and financings. He has also represented companies in connection with various corporate engagements, including asset sales and acquisitions, marketing, technology and other licensing agreements, joint ventures and numerous commercial finance, franchise and contract engagements. In addition, Mills serves as a fiduciary and adviser to numerous families with respect to trust and estates matters.

Mills joined Cummings & Lockwood out of law school in 1985, and was made a principal in 1994. He has held numerous management positions at Cummings & Lockwood, including serving as principal-in-charge of the firm's Greenwich office, serving as chairman of the executive committee of the private clients group, chairman of the compensation committee, and as a member and vice chairman of the board of directors.

Mills received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and his law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He has been a member of the American and Connecticut Bar Associations, and has lectured and written articles on various commercial real estate and fiduciary topics. Mills is included in the 2013 edition of "The Best Lawyers in America" and has been listed in "Who's Who in America," "Who's Who in American Law" and "New England Super Lawyers," as well as in Connecticut Magazine's 2013 List of the Top Lawyers in Connecticut, and in New York Magazine's 2013 List of the Best Attorneys in the New York metropolitan area.

Mills has been active in various civic and business endeavors, having served on various boards and committees for the March of Dimes, the United Way, the USO of Metropolitan New York, the Norwalk Community College Foundation, the Stamford Symphony Orchestra, the Regional Advisory Board of HSBC Bank and other organizations. He was recently elected a Life Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation.
