Steven D. Guynn, 60, of 75 Forest St., New Canaan, was arrested April 5 on a charge of second-degree threatening.

Police received a call at 10:23 p.m. from a neighbor who had heard screams coming from Guynn's house, according to the report. When officers arrived in the area, Guynn took off in his car before they tried to make contact with him, police said.

The neighbor who reported the dispute approached the officers and told them that she heard Guinn making threats to kill his 33-year-old girlfriend, according to police. The neighbor also said she saw the couple leaving the house and questioned them about the incident, but they said everything was fine, police said. The officers checked the residence, but no one was there, according to the report.

Later that night, when police contacted Guynn by phone, he immediately came to police headquarters and he claimed that there had been no argument, police said. Based on the witness' account and scratches on Guynn's forehead and neck, police arrested him, according to the report.

He posted $25,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court April 7.

Police said the case is still under investigation as they haven't been able to contact Guynn's girlfriend.
