Jason C. Kempf, 37, of 123 Forest St., New Canaan, was arrested Feb. 24 on charges of second-degree burglary, second-degree threatening, third-degree criminal mischief and risk of injury to a minor.
Police said Kempf and his sister were involved in an altercation when he went to her home at 7:30 p.m. to confront her. When he arrived, the door was unlocked but his sister refused to let him in, according to the report. Kempf then kicked the door open and started screaming at his sister and her husband, police said.
During the incident, Kempf threatened to kill his brother-in-law, who police said was sleeping on the couch when Kempf got there, according to the report.
When police arrived at the house, Kempf had just left the scene, possibly because he heard the sirens, police said. He was arrested at his home minutes later.
He was charged with risk of injury to a minor because his sister's child was in the house during the incident, the report stated.
Kempf was held in lieu of $30,000 bond and appeared in court Feb. 25.
