Jayson Nelson, 34, of Millport Avenue, New Canaan, was arrested on Monday, Feb. 4, on charges of evading responsibility for leaving the scene of a car accident involving property damage and interfering with an officer in connection with a Jan. 11 traffic accident.

He turned himself in to police after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

According to the report, he was involved in an accident with another driver, who wrote down his license plate number as he drove away and called it in to police. Police said they contacted Nelson -- to whom the car, a Jeep, was registered -- who told them his girlfriend was the one driving at the time of the accident. Police said, however, that account didn't match with what was provided by the other driver and the girlfriend could not describe the scene of the accident.

He posted $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Feb. 15.
