Mallozzi wants inquiry into unappropriated capital expenditures

First Selectman Rob Mallozzi wants to conduct a far-reaching review of the town's capital expenditures from Dec. 1, 2007, through Dec. 1, 2011.
"We have to take another review," he told the Board of Selectmen Tuesday morning. "I want to find it all now. I want to get to the bottom of it."
The town recently discovered a paid but unappropriated $1.5 million capital expenditure associated with the Lakeview Avenue bridge that was spent during the tenure of former Chief Financial Officer Gary Conrad.
In addition, Mallozzi said, there was approximately $400,000 spent on a chiller at the East School that was not appropriated, and he fears there may be more unapproved expenditures.
