New Canaan Library invites all to join systems librarian Jeff Zaino for February's Lunch Bunch Book Discussion.

Zaino will lead a discussion of the thrilling adventure narrative "Down the Great Unknown: John Wesley Powell's 1869 Journey of Discovery and Tragedy Through the Grand Canyon." The group will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at noon in the Adrian Lamb Room. Lunch will be provided.

Drawing on rare diaries and journals, Dolnick has written a gripping, historically-based account of Civil War veteran John Wesley Powell's exploration of the Grand Canyon. With a band of nine mountain men, Powell set out on a mighty quest -- to explore the final frontier of the American West. How that adventure played out, and the perils along the way, make for a compelling, page-turning account of Powell's great adventure.
