On behalf of our board of directors, staff, patients, residents and clients, we congratulate Heather Neff, Waveny Care Network's chief executive officer, on her appointment as president and CEO of Virginia Lutheran Homes -- a premier multi-campus continuum of health care and CCRC based in Roanoke, Va.

Heather has been an exceptional leader during her five and a half years of service and we are proud that she has achieved this recognition.

While this excellent opportunity for Heather signifies her mid-August departure from the Waveny organization, it speaks highly to Waveny's outstanding nationwide reputation for quality of care.

Waveny's Board of Directors has appointed a search committee, led by former Waveny chairman Julianne Grace, and has begun the process of interviewing a search firm to conduct a national candidate search.

Michael Bird, chief financial officer of Waveny Care Network will serve as interim CEO after Heather's departure.

Although we know that the community will miss Heather, we are gratified that she has been selected for such a prestigious position. We offer our best wishes and thanks to her for her many contributions to Waveny.
