The New Canaan YMCA would like to thank the Kiwanis Club for its very generous grant of $1,000 in support of our world service project at Facing the Future in the Kenyan slum of Kibera.

FAFU was founded by Simeon Ajigo, the former executive director of the Kibera YMCA and a native of the Kibera slum. FAFU's mission is to release children from the grip of poverty and build a stronger bridge to a brighter future by providing childcare, a feeding program, education, and service learning opportunities for teens. The Kiwanis Club's grant will enable FAFU to provide two daily meals to 200 children for a full month. Funding for their feeding program is especially urgent, as the number of children served continues to grow.

In an effort to fulfill our mission of social responsibility, the New Canaan Y provides support to our own community as well as internationally. Through the Kibera project, our Y is supporting children in one of the world's largest slums, in addition to offering programs that give our community's children the opportunity to get involved with international philanthropy.

Our sincere gratitude for the Kiwanis Club's support and for everything it does to fulfill its mission of serving the children of the world.
