To the Editor:

From all appearances, it is clear that the 2016 New Canaan Sidewalk Sale and Village Fair was a resounding success. I’ll let Tucker Murphy and Laura Budd speak to all that went into this event by the Chamber and all of the businesses that participated in assuring this outcome, but they all pulled off a great day.

I’ll save most of my praise for our Public Works crews and the Beautification League for their efforts. If first impressions mean as much as we are told, then folks visiting our village this weekend were sure to be overwhelmed. From fresh mulch laid down on flower beds and under trees, to the hanging baskets in their full glory to our freshly swept streets, I can’t remember a time when our town ever looked so glorious! This doesn’t happen by accident. Both of these groups share a passion and pride in what they do and the end result was clearly evident in how great our town looked this past weekend. Please offer your thanks when you see an orange truck and crew around town or see some of the Beautification League volunteers dead-heading or planting around the village.

Thanks to all who made this weekend such a great one.
